The government of Saint Lucia has signed a Development Agreement for building a 345-room luxury Grand Hyatt hotel in Sabwisha, Choiseul. The construction for the project is scheduled to start in 2023 and is anticipated to be completed by early 2025. Prime Minister Philip J Pierre, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism Ernest Hilaire signed the agreement for the project with the hotel developers – Chief Executive Officer of TTS Resorts LTD, Lachezar Todorov, on Wednesday, July 20, 2022,
Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre thanked the developers for demonstrating their confidence in Saint Lucia. In this regard, the prime minister commented, “Being one of the major tourist destinations of the Caribbean region, we are looking forward to the real opening of the resort.” Further, he added that building a new five-star hotel would undoubtedly be advantageous to the local population.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Investment, Creative Industries, Culture and Information Ernest Hilaire stated that the tourism sector of Saint Lucia is in a stage of revitalization and resurrection following halts and problems imposed by the global COVID-19 pandemic. He added that investments are returning to Saint Lucia.
Deputy Prime Minister also recapitulated that the government would shortly start their work on the En Bas Beach Resort, the expansion of Sandals Halycon, and many other projects.
“After no new hotel construction or major expansion for over five (5) years, work has finally restarted on the Cas En Bas Beach Resort and expansion of Sandals Halycon.”
Further, he assured the public that the government would soon make more announcements. Additionally, he said to look out for the Formal Launch of the Community Tourism Programme. Ernest Hilaire also emphasized the fact that the government of Saint Lucia has lived up to their commitments to “Putting People First”.
Grant Hyatt will be another gem of Saint Lucia’s ultra-luxury hotel line-up and will increase the brand’s presence in the Caribbean’s leading travel destination. A new-build resort will be featured with 345 guestrooms, including above 50 luxury suites, three restaurants that will offer world-class chefs and iconic dishes reflective of the destination. Some of the other amenities of the opulent resort will include three bars, a lobby lounge, pool bar and beach-side bar; an 8,000-square-foot destination spa and fitness centre to connect guests with their physical and mental wellbeing. It will also feature more than 23,000 square feet of dynamic, three swimming pools. Additionally, a kid’s club and activity centre, retail shops and an ultramodern screening room will also be constructed to entertain children.
