How to obtain an EB5 visa that grants permanent residence in the United States

Many savers seek out organizations such as Invest in the USA (IIUSA) to direct foreign investment into the American economy, creating jobs and benefiting American workers and communities, as well as those investing in domestic job creation. IIUSA partners with over 200 regional centers in 47 states, representing billions of dollars in EB-5 capital formation.

The EB-5 program is an immigrant investor visa program where individuals invest at least $800,000 in a project that creates employment opportunities, such as hotels, infrastructure, residential, health, or industrial projects, creating at least 10 jobs for American workers. This program provides a path to obtaining US citizenship and other benefits, such as permanent residency, opening a business, investing in safer assets, enrolling children in US schools and universities at a lower cost, and visa-free travel to many countries, even allowing individuals to retire in another country.

The EB-5 program is becoming a popular option for Latin American investors due to its ability to grant legal permanent residence in the United States. When considering the visa procedure, it is important to know the standard path of the developer group and the regional center, analyze the business’s solidity with high job generation, and verify the legal origin of the investor’s funds.

Luis Prado, one of the developers on record, shared his experience working with Invest in the USA, highlighting the successful IHG Grupo Intercontinental Hotel Staybridge Suites at Miami Airport project. The 153-room hotel was built in about three years, including design and permitting phases, and has survived pandemic times in 2020, creating 229 EB-5 jobs, covering the requirements of 170 jobs for the 17 investors they invested in. Currently, more than 80% of investors have their Form I-526 approved, and some have already begun the approval process for their Form I-829.

Prado also discussed the pipeline for the EB-5 program, including the Evin Hotel from IHG, which will begin construction soon in Doral, Miami, near Dolphin Mall, and the One Way Kissimmee Residential, developed in partnership with Konnectia, a US developer founded by Argentine partners, close to the Disney theme parks, which aims to meet the housing demand in that area. They also have a water park project in the portfolio, including a hotel and restaurants developed in Miami ZOO, an innovative concept that will become a new icon in the region. Investors can participate in their portfolio projects in two ways: by investing with the intent to obtain an EB-5 visa with a minimum entry ticket of $800,000 or by purchasing through a classic Wells form with a minimum ticket per unit sold. The method will always be in accordance with the applicable securities and investment laws of the country of investment.
